The history of Al Manbhi Palace, which became today bears the name of the «Marrakech Museum», to the nineteenth century and was built by the Mahdi Al Manbhi, Minister of Defense Prince Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz (1894-1908).

The Al Manbhi Palace was built in the style of Moroccan urban building style in an area of 2000 square meters. Its four rooms were organized around an open courtyard, as well as a hammam and a walkway.

In 1996, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Ben Jelloun worked on the restoration of the Manbhi Palace and transformed it into a museum that gave him the name of Marrakech, where he restored much of the artistic and cultural movement to the heart of the old city.
